Tooronga Road House

Upon approach to this original 1930’s double brick semi-detached residence, the dark silhouette of the new extension slides across forming a backdrop for the reconfigured entry whilst housing a new laundry and powder room. A timber veneer clad form draws you through into the new kitchen, dining and living areas. These areas open up to a north facing timber deck which now provides an intimate play area for the children.

An elevated outdoor space lined with synthetic turf to the rear of the site creates a different play zone contrasted against a red brick wall. Glazing on both the northern and eastern ends maintains a constant sense of visual surveillance for the parents. A new opening on the southern side from the existing lounge creates an entry into an ensuite and outdoor area bridging the old and new fabric of the residence.
