Gisborne Street House

This project started as a design for a new kitchen and evolved into a total renovation and extension of a substantial Victorian property in Elsternwick.  As design work commenced it became apparent that the client was in fact tired of the existing heritage decoration undertaken by the previous owners and our approach sought to clarify and highlight the significant Victorian features of the house in a contemporary manner.  The eventual brief called for a full transformation of the existing program into a family home that was based around a sequential series of private and living spaces connected to the transformed backyard.  It was crucial that the more contemporary rear spaces spoke directly to the original Victorian front of the house and this has been achieved through meticulous selection of colour, texture and graphic.
