Dynnyrne House Extension

The story told by the clients early on was that they dreamed of a retreat space within their home that extended family living out into the garden.  The large rear garden was under utilised, due to its lack of connection to the main living hubs.  With two growing young boys it become apparent that a play space for them or alternatively a ‘get away’ space for the parents was going to be a bonus to everyday living.

The scheme set out to provide a ‘backrest’ to the garden, by supporting outdoor living and providing that much needed connection to the sun drenched double block backyard.  Deep alcoves were designed to encourage the appropriation of edges for play or display space.
